Home Village Storyeum

Previously the residence of General Zhang Zai-Yu, the overall architecture of Home Village Storyeum is positioned between the Japanese style and ordinary post-war Taiwanese residences.  The building consists of two floors, with a courtyard that has a complete square layout, while Japanese architecture elements are seen on the roof, windows, doors, walls, the landscape pond in the front yard, and other places. The cultural temperament of General Zhang Zai-Yu’s family is manifested through the three generations: the Militarism of the first, the Peking Opera and literature of the second, and the film and performing arts of the third. All of these cultural expressions reflect the multifaceted life of intellectuals from Mainland China who arrived in Taiwan after the war.
